Our course

The 43rd edition of the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon offers participants a unique and scenic route along the shores of Lake Michigan and through downtown Milwaukee. Notably, this marathon is the only race that crosses over the iconic Hoan Bridge, providing runners with breathtaking views of the city and the lake.

As one of the largest marathons in the state, it attracts runners from all over the country and internationally, eager to experience the beauty of the course and the vibrant atmosphere of Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon is produced by the Badgerland Striders Running Club and we are proud to say this event is "For Runners, By Runners!"

MaiNtaining Pace on the Hoan Bridge

The Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon has applied for permits that require re-opening of streets in a structured timeframe. For your safety and information, we wish to inform you of the following time-frame checkpoints that will be enforced:

Full Marathon participants should be:

  • On the Hoan Bridge (approx. mile 7.5) by 9:15 am (18:00 min/mile pace).

  • At the south end of the Hoan Bridge (approx. mile 23.5) by1:00 pm and at the 26.2mile finish line by 1:30 pm (14:42 min/mile pace).

NOTE: The Hoan Bridge is not a pedestrian bridge and therefore we cannot allow for “rules of the road” finishes. In the event that you are unable to maintain the above paces, we will ask you to board our SAG wagon or to notify an Aid Station volunteer who will call for a ride taking you to the Finish line which will result in a DNF.

The Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon provides a pace team for the full and half marathon. Click below for more information.

Water and Bathroom Stops

Each aid station will have water, Gatorade and portable toilets. GU brand gels will be available on the course at three locations. Water stops are located approximately every two miles.

Parking and Shuttle

The Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon provides FREE parking to participants and supporters. Shuttle service will be provided for the half and full marathon. Click below for more information.

PRizes

The awards presentation will be held on the After-Party celebration stage at 11am.
